Heading back to VB and then North Carolina for the weekend.. only 3 more days until the 4th Annual Morey Boogie Contest. If you happen to be in North Carolina and want to take part, make sure to fill out the sign up form and bring it bright and early on Saturday. For those going, you may be treated to seeing the return of the Covered!

Just a little tease.. It’s that time again for the annual Morey Boogie Bodyboarding Contest! Looks like Jeff and I will be heading down to North Carolina in November. Stay tuned for more details and if you want to sign up, go here: Why5Oh.blogspot.com and send an email to Ricky Miller.
I now know how I will be spending the rest of my late 20s - going to an endless parade of weddings. So far, Ricky’s and Jessica’s wedding has had the best groom’s cake. What other type of cake would a bodyboarder get anyway? In 2 weeks, I’ll be back to Virginia for wedding number 3. They should give out frequent gift buyer points at the stores people register for - for every 5 gifts I buy, the store should be giving me a gift.

Maybe it’s because it’s the 3rd year running, but this year’s contest was the best run - we finished before the sun went down, everyone got awesome prizes, and no one “almost” drowned. And maybe it’s because I was only 1 of 3 girls there, but the day’s most frequently asked question was “When’s my heat because I gotta take a dump?”. The day’s highlights - getting to wear my Covered, playing with the giant dog, and getting in trouble with the realtor. I’m already counting down to Contest 4!

Scenes from this past weekend’s 2nd Annual Why5Oh Morey Pro/Am Bodyboarding contest… almost makes you feel like you were there…

Preparations are under way for the Why5oh contest in November! Props to the guys for getting a new sponsor - Pepsi! The entry form is all ready and as if you needed even more reason to put your money down and drive to North Carolina, news is in that Jeff and Dave Hubbard will be there as well. Even if you don’t win, it’ll be worth seeing Jeff pull one of those awesome airs! Enter now.

It’s that time of year again! In November, Why5Oh will be bringing you it’s 2nd annual Pro and Amateur bodyboarding contest in Outerbanks, North Carolina. I’ll be on hand to tally up the scores and collect all the money. Here’s hoping to no rain, good waves, and no almost drownings. Find out more and then sign up here!
Since I’m dating one of the members of Why5oh, I guess I’m a little obligated to give a shout out to their new blog. These guys are so cool though that even if I wasn’t a girlfriend, I’d probably still try to be a Why5oh groupie.
Why5oh is in the business of helping to promote the sport of bodyboarding; several times a year they put on contests up and down the East Coast. One contest in Florida even resulted in a blown up bus - as Ricky would say, “Good times, good times”!
And, since I’m already on the bodyboarding topic, I also recommend checking out a new online magazine, A-Frame. Only on issue 2, the magazine is already looking good. If you can only read one article, make sure to read POV: East Coast Perspectives. It features some of the best riders on the East Coast: Ricky Miller, T.J. Bonano, Ryan Rhodes, Dan Cera, Chris Schlegel, Chuck Guarino, and more. T.J. even lets you know the best places to get good eats in Virginia Beach. In his words, “Phil’s Grill for an ‘attack burrito’, Jewish Mother for a ‘mom’s hot smoked turkey’, and Malbon Brothers for the ‘top hog’ BBQ sandwich” - yum yum! The boys aren’t bad looking either
